A new car for Gwenny

This really is a new car unlike the old landrover.  Its a Ford Focus hatch.  We bought it on a Novated Lease through Paul's work.  Hopefully a good little runabout for Gwenny for years to come.  As a surprise Paul later got the custom number plate "GWENNY" for it.

Under the Poinciana tree at our Virginia block.  Its flowers really came out this buildup.

Bought a new car.. well new to me... a Series 2 Landrover!

Found this advert on the board at Coolalinga shops and just had to get it.  Its a 1962 model Series II.  No motor and really past trying to do it up..  but I thought would make a nice garden ornament.  Jessie lent me her car trailer and went with me to pick it up.  The guy in Darwin River had like 30 old landrovers!

It cost me $200 but apparently the original badge on the back of it might be worth nearly that.

His name is Cecil.

Bought another disco

The suzuki is a cool little 4wd but I miss my Land Rover too much.  So I've gone the whole hog and bought a new one!

Daniel has bought the Suzuki of me.  Shannon and Rosanna drove the new car up for me as I bought it in Toowoomba.  I think it'll be good timing anyway as they might have something to announce when they get here!

Lots of mods are planned for the disco - including bullbar, winch, snorkel etc.

Sold the Disco

Its with a very heavy heart that we report we have sold our Landrover Discovery 3...   a man in Adelaide bought the car fairly quickly after sending a friend around to view it in Darwin.  We are missing the car already but thought we'd get something a bit more basic and cheaper to own...

Paul has bought a 2003 Suzuki Grand Vitara in Brisbane that he'll get a few modifications to.

The suzy - this is as bought - will update blog with new pictures after modifications

Sold the Pathy

Now that I've bought the disco we needed to sell our Pathfinder - luckily it sold pretty easily - in fact straight away when I put it on the side of the road at the Howard Springs turnoff.

Was able to sell it for a little more than what I owed on it.

Bought a disco

Gwenny and Paul flew down on the night of Wednesday the 29th of April and stayed with Aunty Kris.

We picked up the 2nd hand car on the Thursday from a private seller who lived on Toorak Road.  We noticed it had a bit of mud inside up high on spots where it shouldn't be but Paul had already bought it sight unseen!  We learnt later it had been drowned but it was still a great car anyway - especially once an electrical fault was sorted.
We had a good trip home.  The first night (Friday) we only got as far as Mildura as the car had a new engine and needed a 1000km oil change.

The saturday night we stayed in an underground hotel in Cooper Pedy.  Sunday night we stayed at Wycliffe Wells which we found a bit weird.

We got home Monday evening the 4th of May, 2009 with no problems - loved the car!

Paul buys his first car

Sometime probably in January 1987 Paul bought his yellow long wheel base Suzuki Sierra from a dealership in Katherine.  He bought it second hand for $9000 he recalls - it was a 1984 model.

It wasn't really his first car as he did buy an old 2 stroke 3 cylinder bush basher Suzuki (an LJ50) from Humpy Doo when he was living at the Thomsen's, but this car was never registered whilst he owned it (or since as he cut the roof of it etc!)

Soon after Paul bought it he met his mum and dad on the Vic Highway coming back from their holiday in Perth.   Apparently dad pointed to his car on the side of the road and told mum "thats the sort of car that Paul bought" without realising it was him waving at them.
