Monica and Toby buy a house

Its a nice house but its not this one

Monica and Toby have bought a lovely 3 bedroom house in Bellamack, Palmerston - a dream come true for them!   They'll be moving in over the weekend.

Monica has moved to Darwin and Toby has sort off - he still works in Wyndham but travels between the two when he has time off.   He is looking for work in Darwin though.

Monica has got work in a youth support program with the YWCA.  They are living at Aunty Nadines new house with her.

Monica "hops" into a new job

Monica started her new job today where she works for a WA government program with troubled youth in Wydham.  She's always been interested in following her mum in this kind of work so this is hopefully a great foot in the door.

She was working for Toby's family business helping out in the office which is in the same building as her new office.

Unfortunately she hurt her knee quite badly in netball the week before and is on crutches at the moment.

Monica back in Wyndham

Monica has moved back to Wyndham to work with Toby and family's business.  She left her job with the shire and is now in this new job.  They are also going to enable her to do some training (Certificate in Business) on the job.  She's currently living in town but plans to live on a block out of town a bit when she can.

We have a new daughter!

After the loss of mother and best friend Monica has chosen to be a part of our family in Darwin.  We can't ever replace her mother, and wouldn't try to, but we're very thankful that we can be there for her and provide a loving and caring environment.

 

Monica will be 16 on the 26th of July and has enrolled in Year 11 at Marrarra Christian College where Rosanna goes.



ShirleyAnne passes away

Paul and Craig's older sister ShirleyAnne lost her battle with cancer at first light on this day.

ShirleyAnne found out she had cancer mid 2006 and initially we were given the impression by doctors that it wasn't too serious but things rapidly got worse and later last year she knew that it was very serious.

Paul had a lot of support from his employer (Batchelor Institute) and was fortunately able to spend a lot of time with her both when she was still quite mobile and then at her bedside.  He made quite a few trips and was able to stay for weeks at a time sometimes.   A lot of people were able to go with Paul on these trips to Wyndham to visit ShirleyAnne including Gwenny, Craig, Aunty Wendy, the Possinghams, and Peterboy.

 

Paul and ShirleyAnne's sister Bronwyn "Bowie" was with her when she passed away peacefully in her bed.  Her last few weeks were spent in a coma at home and she was not responsive to anyone.   We were amazed by her courage.

The funeral was held a month later on the 4th of April 2007.  It was a beautiful rainy day and a lot of family were able to attend from Darwin and elsewhere.

Our niece Monica (daughter of Paul's sister ShirleyAnne) came to visit us for the week!

Was really nice to spend some time with her.

Monica is born

Monica Denise Thomsen was born on the 26th of July, 1991 in Wyndham WA.  Her mother ShirleyAnne

was 26 at the time and Paul was 23.
